Five Pillars

Feeding program

The most basic and immediate need for the poor is food. Most could hardly afford to eat even one nutritious meal each day. Indonesian Relief works together with local churches and organization to distribute free meals and other food itesm to the most impoverished communities.

food security

Indonesian Relief’s goal goes beyond just giving the “fish” to the needy, but to also give them a “fishing rod” by which they can learn to secure their own food. One of the ways is to give them seeds and teach them how to grow them. The farming process provides much needed jobs and the whole village can benefit from the harvest for years to come.

education

Reaching beyond the present short-term need, we also want to save a generation by preserving and equipping the children with education. Many children have been forced to drop out of school because of their financial crisis and if nothing is done, Indonesia will lose a generation of leaders and educated workforce. Indonesian Relief contributes to this long-term program by building school houses, offering after school programs, and donating school supplies.

healthcare

Working with local doctors and clinics that volunteer their services, Indonesian Relief works to provide much needed health care for the needy, who can’t afford even basic medical supplies or services. To help these clinics and hospitals to serve the needy, Indonesian Relief donates medical supplies and equipment (surgical instruements, wheelchairs, crutches, etc.).

job creation

Working with local job training centers, Indonesian Relief helps to create job opportunities for those who would otherwise go unemployed. Other venues to create jobs include setting up fish ponds, mushroom farming, etc. The income from these ventures go back to both the program and the trainees.
