Children’s Programs

Surabaya Children Center Orphanage

Surabaya Children Center (SCC) is our orphanage project in Surabaya, Indonesia. Working with Homes of Hope International, SCC currently serves 24 residence children. Each of these precious children come from difficult backgrounds, growing up with horrible past experience. Through SCC, these children have found a loving home.

SCC uses WBP (World Best Practices) on orphan care guidelines. We put highest priority on child protection and also see to it that each child is treated as a unique individual deserving personal care. We encourage academic growth to transition every child from our home to an independent life after.

Spiritual development is the core value at of our orphanage project. We believe only a new life in Christ can provide these children with inner healing and empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

Terang Surabaya After School Program

Terang Surabaya (Light of Surabaya) is an after school academic tutoring program established in the city of Surabaya, Indonesia. The government of Indonesia has improved in funding public schools and providing free tuition. However, the number of government funded public schools are not sufficient to cover academic needs for all of Indonesia.

In Surabaya, there are around 200 elementary schools, but there are 500-600 more private schools, mostly under funded and somehow neglected by the educational system. We partner with these private poor community schools and hold this Terang Surabayaat the their schools.

Terang Surabaya supports these schools through:

  1. Three days per week: after school tutoring projects

  2. Financial support for school teachers

  3. Once a week delivery of fruit and milk

  4. Behavior development such as "Don't Skip School" campaign,  "Brushing Your Teeth" campaign, and others

  5. Annual free school-shoes giveaway

  6. Bi-monthly parents meeting where we provide a bag of daily basic elements such as rice, sugar and noodles. Our aim for each meeting is to inspire, to have paradigm shifts, and for parents to support their children's education.

These schools, the students and their parents, are are all from the poor communities of Surabaya, but we have seen amazing results for through the ministry of Terang Surabaya. We currently work with 29 schools, with 3,900 students and 3,900 parents.
